DONNA'S PAGE
As you read WALKING WITH THE SHADOW OF
LOVE, you will run across the character named Donna. Donna is a special type
of friend--something I refer to as, "dog friend". A dog friend is a unique
kind of friendship because you are joined together by a shared love of dogs.
As I go through the trials and challenges in the book, Donna is always there
to support with her expertise, because when it comes to dogs, Donna has seen
and done it all. At the time the book was taking place, she was the head of
a rescue organization, and saved the lives of nearly a hundred dogs. She has
her own dog training business that operates in parts of Sussex, Morris,
Passaic, and Bergen Counties in northern New Jersey. She can be
contacted at victoryaussies@gmail.com.

Watching Ice competently herd and control her flock, it seems like only
yesterday that puppy Ice and lamb could engage in such a tender moment.
Donna and her therapy dog, Flash, served at the World Trade Center the
days following 9/11. In the photo at left a ceremony was held at Liberty
State Park on the ten year anniversary of the attacks to honor the dogs
who served there. Flash held the CD companion dog obedience title:
DSR Disaster Relief Dog.

On the left: Donna and Ellie. Ellie is a "failed rescue". What we mean
by that is Donna saved Ellie from being euthanized and was going to find
her a home, but fell in love with her and adopted her. She has lived a
long life with Donna and is loved by everyone who knows her. On
the right: Donna takes a walk with Flint and Misty, with Ellie bringing
up the rear.
